What is the history and popularity of the app?

WikiAnswers was launched in 2002. It is a part of the Answers Corporation, which was founded in December of 1998 by Robert S. Rosenschein. The company currently consists of approximately 70 individuals, including CEO Rosenschein, Chief Strategic Officer Bruce D. Smith, CFO Steven Steinberg and CTO Jeff Schneiderman.

What are the differences to other apps?

WikiAnswers gives users a place to ask any kind of question, no matter how simple or complicated. The website is geared towards information. Users can learn about specific topics, receive instructions or advice from people who understand the topic.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

The WikiAnswers website utilizes a colorful design with vibrant green and blue. The main content is given center stage, with blue links to access question pages and colorful icons for sharing, following and research features. The website also contains a number of advertisements but these are generally not intrusive, even though they are found on both the left and right sides of the page. Each question page contains neatly organized links to related topics, similar questions and relevant articles as well as a handful of featured videos that can be viewed. The basic navigation links are available in the lower, left hand corner. The search tool bar remains easily accessible, displayed in the green header at the top of each page.

How does the registration process work?

A new user can find the registration and log in tools right along the left hand side of the website, in a blue box. The top of the box gives the user five log in options, which include Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Google and Linked In. The bottom of the box presents users with a white “Create account” link for those who prefer to go the traditional route. Clicking the link causes the log in form to shift into the registration form, which requires a username, password and email address. A check box at the bottom of the form is automatically selected to sign the user up for the monthly newsletter (this must be manually unchecked to opt out). A second check box must be selected to confirm that the user is at least 13 years of age and agrees to the WikiAnswers privacy policy, community guidelines and terms of use.

What does it cost to use the application?

WikiAnswers is a website that thrives on a strong community. Without its members, the website would have little to offer. Luckily the creators have kept WikiAnswers accessible with free access for all users. There are no subscription fees or other charges for creating an account or asking questions.
